Hi all,
my name is Steve from Suffolk UK. I have just bought the cutest little car ever made by Fiat! Its a 1990 126 BIS in a grey/blue colour and this might bring some booing and hissing but I intend to modify it by fitting a ZZR1100 kawasaki engine with 167bhp in place of the 703cc lump. The car is quite rust free apart from the tailgate and a small scab on the sill, engine is currently waiting for me to recomission her with fresh oil etc but has only done 49k miles.
Now the hard part, I am looking for ideas or help on the quest for the quickest (or one of lol) 126 with Kwak power so any suggestions would be welcomed! I look forward to chatting with fellow fans and meets etc, all the best from Sunny Suffolk lol! :D

Can't think why you want that much power in a 126? Scary :smt087
Good luck!
Steve.

Hi Doug, not sure as at the very preliminary stages, was thinking of trying to mate the bike engine to the 126 box but obviously after some major reworking in order to get a reverse gear? I am a total newbie to modding in this way so all ideas welcomed :D

Thanks for the link, its given me loads of ideas, I really found the electric reverse option a great one!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant wait til some time off to get the old grey matter and spanners into gear, it may be something and nothing though lol! Does anyone know if Z cars do a conversion for the 126 still?

ZZR
I think the ratio's are all wrong as far as i am aware for a bike engine as they rev to 14000+ and a 126 doesn't get even close to half of that so most use the bike box with a bolt on reverse box, but these cost upwards of £1500 so a pricey option but it does give u the same number of reverse gears as forward ones lol

Echo Echo
Haven't we all been here before?

do you have to have a reverse gear as a mot requirement? as the cars small enough to just push about ?
-
Robins didn't have one.

Robins didn't have one.
If your refering to reliant robins they most certainly did have a reverse gear infact tthe runing gear on a robin is derived from 60's racing car developers Coventry Climax and the engine was used very successfully in the 700 club for over 25 years, by the way i should know as i own a 120mph+ one using origional engine lol

perhaps you are referring to the Bond Minicar Three-Wheeler?
no reverse on this model
-
I was lead to believe the reason you could drive one on a motorbike licence was because they had no reverse gear!
-
I am assured by a friend next to me he had 3 early ones none had reverse, maybe he was just unlucky :-(
-
u can drivce one on a motorbike licence because its registered as a trike not a car, reliant got away with trike status due to its low weight to the extent that when they added extras the higher up models got plastic windows in place of the lower models glass, they even registered them as trike vans then fitted the windows at the dealers so when registered they were lighter. as for earlier odels havin gno reverse any reliant engined reliant had the reliant gearbox which most definetly had reverse, you may be thing of buble cars which used motorbike technolgy like the issetta etc which had no reverse

i can confirm that they do have reverse as my uncle ran me over in one going backwards!! he also nearly died in one as they dont take the temporary flyovers (built in the 60s and still there) on the a13 very well , and tend to tip over ....oopps . robins were regarded as a poor mans/grandad car, theres plenty still round here and a bloke up the road has the worst reliant creation ever , the kitten that car is just so wrong. :)

nothing wrong with Robins
(http://www.eureniusdesign.com/bruce/reliant.jpg)
rear wheel drive, mid-engined (it is in the middle of the car between the driver's and front passenger' legs) and can easily be made to do a ton.

Having looked into the bike engine option, its gonna cost a fortune in parts alone inc £1100 for a diff! How can I get a few extra horses from the 703 lump? Really need a lottery win!
