Hi peeps, I've just registered with the site with the intention of moving on my 126.
It is an A reg air cooled in dark blue. I brought it for my sons 17th birthday and he's 30 this year. It's been in my garage since '98 and I have done a little work on it over the years. I'm getting a bit old and frail now so I can't see me getting it on the road again. It is SORN.
It needs new wheel cylinders on the front coz they have perished. It needs a thermostat, a battery and a roof lining. The rear bumper is off a later model and the front one that matches is there but off at the mo. It could do with a rear bump stop rubber on one side the other is new. It does not have the full underpan at the back.
Put a battery on and it will run, sweet as a nut.
It has new brake pipes throughout. It did not need them but I wanted it to look nice. It has been scrubed and undersealed. The engine/gbox has been out and washed.
The screen has a small chip outside the swept area that was there when I got it so should be stable.
I think the metal is all sound except a bit of filler below the front lights. The drivers door is a bit thin below the window.
Theres a few spare wheels and seats and a spare bonnet and a few other bits and bobs.
I am as I say in Hastings and it cannot be driven away.
What to ask for it is a question.
First off are there any offers?

I would rather it went to one of the guys on here to do up as a runner.
It had about 45000 on the clock.
The model is "Brown" if that helps.
I will give it till next sunday open to offers or suggestions of value then I will probably put it up for what I think it worth.
The paint work is patchy coz its been rubbed down and primed in places.

No pictures. I'm getting a bit frail and don't fancy pushing it out of my lockup.
You must know what a 126 looks like surely.
I think I've described it fairly well in the ad.
I have not started it for over a year but I am confident that putting a battery on it will start.
I wheeled it out a couple of weeks ago to show a person who said he was interested, and it still looks good. He did not want it for his son because he thought it would not stand up to a crash very well with a modern large vehicle.
Tyres could do with a bit more air.

Hi Mate, I think you might be under-valuing your car i little bit. I would guess that its worth between £300 and £350 if the body work and engine are as good as you describe. Sadly,I cant buy it myself, because I'm still fixing up my two!. And i've changed all my collected spare coins at the bank to afford to do that. Good luck with the sale though.

It's gotta go, I've been paying £44 a month for the past nine years just to store it.
The front edge of the bonnet had some small rust hole that I filled. But there is a spare bonnet that should be better.

try ebay, id be very surprised if it went for less than £400 on there if your description here is accurate.

Like I tried to write earlier, the guys on here are keen on "the car" as I was a few years ago.
I would rather someone with a history of liking them got it, someone prepared to do a little work who can enjoy it.
So I won't get as much for it, thats not a problem. If I wanted top dollar I could fork out for the new wheel cylinders and battery and stick an MOT on it. I think thats all it needs to pass.
I think the price it is offered for is fair. One contact says he "might" be interested. I need something a bit more definate.

a car without an mot is to be honest worth only what you and a buyer agree on . if you had an mot it would go with condition and market value. it doesnt matter if its a minter or a piece of scrap iron people look on the mot certificate as a sort of guarantee that it meets roadworthy requirements and thus requires less work , although this is not always true in some cases. if you go by what the books say your car is only worth a mere £100. or as trade go by only scrap value. so in my eyes £250 is a fair price i hope you achieve this and i think you are right in putting the car up for sale here, i like a man with principals. if i never already had three of the buggers i would be interested. and as for e bay its just a pain in the arse.
