Title: what do you know/think about Trabant

I am looking at Trabant that is for sale near me, i know they are two stroke two cylinder engines and made of a coton fibre reinfprced plastic, but what else can you tell me.
surely someone out there in the 126 world has had one of these before.

My next door neighbours son in law is into them in a big way, he thinks they are great, I shall speak to him and let you know.  I understand that the chassis is the bit to watch as it is the only bit not made out of fibreglass!

chassis rust is very bad, look really closely. the body isnt fibreglass, its a weird resin that is very hard to destroy and is toxic when burnt! they are great to drive, very quick for the size and a real hoot to drive. parts are available and they are easy to fix. later cars had a VW polo engine btw. you can tell them as they have a different grill and sound boring too. Id love one myself.

Go for a Polo one if you can. great fun to drive in a plastic car type of way.
