Hi guys, anyone got a spare gearbox kicking about?
I am not sure about my skills as far as gear box repair is concerned.
The aircooled is now running and better than I could have dreamed but first movement was a bit of a disapointment as it jumps violently out of first gear and every other gear is noisy.
Bis box should do ok I think.
-
bis box will do but you will have to change the bell housing...........easy but you might as well do your box........ ...pm if you want any help
-
i have a bis gearbox . i am in sittingbourne kent.pm me
-
did'nt realise the bis box would fit an aircooled.......My scrapper was just about to leave for the yard.....I'll pull the geabox first.
-
yep Ger,just change the bell housing, all you need is a gasket set,and its a good idea to do the input shaft seal at the same time.....once all done you then get the taller gearing off the bis as well!
a new filler plug doesnt go amiss either

I'm going to have a 650 in my 500, would you advise the BIS box or the standard 650 box??
-
well,i reckon a well set up 650 is cpable of pullng the extra gearing,i have built such a box for mine and will be fitting it to the new car im working on at the moment.
paul harbinson fitted one i think in his mates 126...
