Title: Gearbox
Post by: Darrell on March 24, 2007, 10:13:48 PM
Hi guys, anyone got a spare gearbox kicking about?

I am not sure about my skills as far as gear box repair is concerned.
The aircooled is now running and better than I could have dreamed but first movement was a bit of a disapointment as it jumps violently out of first gear and every other gear is noisy.

Bis box should do ok I think.

yep Ger,just change the bell housing, all you need is a gasket set,and its a good idea to do the input shaft seal at the same time.....once all done you then get the taller gearing off the bis as well!

a new filler plug doesnt go amiss either

I'm going to have a 650 in my 500, would you advise the BIS box or the standard 650 box??

well,i reckon a well set up 650 is cpable of pullng the extra gearing,i have built such a box for mine and will be fitting it to the new car im working on at the moment.

paul harbinson fitted one i think in his mates 126...
