I remember many years ago a women went to the garage my dad worked in and wanted a service. they told her to drive over the pit. 5mins later a massive bang. They ran in the workshop to see a 3 wheeler with its nose in the pit and its arese in the air.

I used to work as a classic car restorer- we had a truck ramp as we worked on alot of heavy older vehicles that needed the extra ramp room.

One day a guy asked us to restore a robin reliant, we had to drive it onto the ramp with the nose down between them, then jack the front end back up and place a  steel girder between the ramps to support the nose wheel..

why they hell any one would want to spend money having it restored is beyond me... second only to that metallic brown austin allegro we did....  :lol:

haha, they are some good stories.

ive never thought how they look under a 3 wheeler.

what about at MOt test stations the one i got to uses a pit and not a  lift.

What other cars have you restored Stuey?

List is endless morris minors, minis, austin healey, jenson interceptors, jaguars (various) cortina mk1-3,allegro  :???:  , rovers, audis, wolesey, ford zephrs, anglias, triumph roadsters (bergerac stylee- nice) posrches and many others had minor work- mgs- bentleys rollers oh but my fave a fiat 500 estate!!!! I have some pics of it after it was bare metalled somewhere ill scan them and post them........... :cool:

i used to have a reliant robin, i had it a few years and there were only a few places that could MOT it, normal car dealers could not, niether could motorcycle dealers. another problem with them was breaking down; the normal AA/RAC recovery vehicles that lift the front wheels cannot be used and then there is the problem of getting them on the back of a lowloader. they do make them with 3 ramps but they are as rare as hens teeth.
