Title: Headlights
Post by: bigjimmer on October 19, 2006, 02:25:31 PM
How do all,

I was just about to purchase some halogen lights for my 1983 126 when someone suggested that i need to uprate the relays. Is this the case and mores the point, what are they and what do they do?

Incase anyone is interested, i am getting the lights from a site called www.fiat500126.com they are good and i recently bought an exhaust off of there pretty cheap. I wish it went on as easily as i got it.

The purpose of a relay is to reduce the load at the switch contacts. The switch contacts are usually designed just to handle to normal load (standard headlights) when you increase the wattage in the circuit there is more load on the contacts and they then tend to burn out.

So if your increasing the wattage on the lights, it's a good idea!
