Title: bis box/a/cooled box interchange
Post by: 126dave on September 11, 2006, 06:26:22 PM
hi all, this has been addressed elsewhere on here, but i cannot find the posts...........i want to fit my spare bis box to my aircooled, can i just swop bell housings???.........and if so,does anyone have a spare a/cooled bell housing going ????.
the point of this is that i want the higher bis gearing without having to swop diffs etc.......and keep my good a/c box as spare....am i pissing into the wind on this one????

and,i'll need a 1st gear repair kit,any good suggestions of supply???

thanks............

Dave

The bellhousings are interchangable, I am waiting for a gasket kit to do this myself. The bis rear mounts are a different shape but the aircooled one bolt in in their place.

Have you tried Axel Gerstl, standard parts are quite cheap and delivery is super quick – tuning bits are loads of money though.

Its a good mod if you have the bhp (which it looks like you do). I've posted elsewhere i may have a 650 bellhousing - i can let you know early next week.
