Title: Electronic ignition in twin coil set up help

I'm trying to wire up electronic ignition to my 126, however I have the set up as seen in the pictures. The electronic ignition needs an earth and a live, so I wired it to the coil, but the coil doesn't have a live going to it originally.
Can I just put an ignition live to the coil, or will it not work with this type of setup?
To be honest I'm not 100% sure how this setup works, I'm used to the usual way.

Your coil must have a positive from the ignition. That's how the engine shuts off when you turn the ignition off.
There is no earth connector on the coil because the outer body is earthed through the bracket
 
If you want to fit a modern coil you will probably need a ballast resistor if you don't already have one.

Sorry another question regarding electronic ignition though. 
With the ignition on, would the coil show live on the earth side of it? The coil itself is mounted to the body so earthed through that, so has no wires going to the earth terminal.
Just wondering if I have a duff coil
