Title: Hi from Devon
Post by: Minijohn on November 23, 2018, 11:18:31 AM
Hi
Just bought a 126 as a toy to play with in my retirement.
It’s a 1990 from Poland - LHD, air cooled & rough - but it runs well !!
Suits me fine because I'm not bothered about originality so no worries about changing anything.
My plans after MOT to get it UK registered are disc brakes, lowered suspension, alloy wheels , steering wheel, re-trim, respray or wrapping etc etc (not necessarily in that order)

It’s my 2nd 126, the previous one over 30 years ago.
I also had a 500 50 years ago.
Since then it’s been mainly minis - but now fancy a change.

Thanks in advance for any help from you guys.

John

Hi, Welcome to the club, nice car. Looks newer than 1990 to me though.

Hi Luca
I’m saying 1990 as that date is on the chassis plate.
Also the digit on the VIN number that confirms the date is “0” - 1990?
I don’t have a reg document so I emailed Fiat to confirm the build date. They referred me here....

- I’m waiting for a reply from them.

The car is distributorless with electronic ignition - I don’t know when that was introduced.

 Welcome to the forum.

Luca is right. The car is most likely post 95 if it has no distributor. I don't think Fiat will be able to help as they don't keep records for the cars that were built in Poland.
Did it come with any Polish paperwork at all?

Thanks for that info.
No I don’t have any paperwork at all.
I bought the car from a guy who runs a business that’s been established and at the same address for many years - he took it in p/ex from a car dealer for a car he sold - so he’s not going to be able to disappear.
I’ll try Fiat in Poland.
