Well spotted there Michael, I can see that you are not an idler and are geared up for the job ;D

Never noticed that 🙂 the idler should be down at the bottom

I thought one cog to a second reversed motion and when you add a third cog the two outers run in the same direction.???
-
That’s what I thought too?? Cam and crank both turning the same way?

I'll get my coat.

Some more noise for the lil Hushmobil :P
Might be good for racing, having better timing accuracy. Along with the noise there are vibrations jumping on the whole timing unit, that tend to destroy it. Old technology...

Ford and Taunus V4 & V6 in the 60/70’s used Fibre Timing Gears which ran very quiet and kept the timing spot on😁

The 1929 Plymouth 4 had fibre timing gears.

Not forgetting the Renault Dauphine on which I replaced many fibre Timing Gears Ha ha !

Hey Gren,
Watching an old movie yesterday a Dauphine kept coming into view and reminded me what a nice looking little car they were. Resilient too as my mate used to thrash the hell out of the one he had way back when. Not so robust in the bodywork area though as I think the metal was almost paper thin and rusted away so we do not see many these days.

There is another abarthization for various models 600/1000/127/124... Unfortunately hard to apply to 500/126. Chain to belt kit:
