Hi all I've just bought a 1989 126 Bis. She needs a bit of work. I've no experience but hoping to teach myself some basics and ask for help for more complicated stuff. Is the 704cc relatively easy to self service? Seems impossible to find a workshop manual for anything other than the air cooled engines.

Hi adey welcome to the club :) you’ve chosen the best car to cut your teeth on if you want to learn the basics of car maintenance - tying a shoe lace is more complex than one of these machine they are dead easy and simple to work on. You won’t find a workshop manual for a BIS but having an air cooled one does prove useful as they share a lot of components such as brakes and suspension and the gearbox.
Ask plenty of questions as we can all talk you though it :thumbup

Thank you. Looking forward to exploring the world of 126 and getting to grips with how these little machines work.
I have actually now found a Bis manual if anyone else is interested
Wouldn't mind having a look around a really nice example to see what's possible in terms of light restoration.
Thanks again :)
