This may be a silly question, but where do each of the side air vents on a BIS go to?
-
well, the one on the drivers side is probably the most useful. It allow fresh air to be drawn into the engine compartment when the fan cuts in. It's also where the air filter gets its air from as it leads to a box section that the air filter housing draws from. The one on the other side does nothing for air flow as the exiting warm air comes out the bottom so I guess it's there for show to keep it all even.

I thought so.
But I'm surprised the passenger side vent (or the vent above the radiator) doesn't direct air towards the radiator itself, that would do wonders for cooling.

I guess it would've took too much money to engineer. The set up now also means it draws cool air across the engine sucking out oil and fuel fumes with it

Gadge, so the box section that the air filter housing rubber elbow hose connects to, comes out near the air vent drawing in cool air (as it's the air box summer setting.) I wondered where it went to. :)

Yes that's right it's an indirect route for fresh air (on the summer setting that is)
