right the one thing that bugs me on my MCA kit car (based on a 1979 aircooled) is that the whole gearstick can twist around, a friend with a fiat 500 says its normal as his does it too
well i just wondered if they fixed this on the later models as i saw on ebay they used a fiat cinquecento gearstick

No I'm afraid my late model BIS does it too and to be honest it would be hard to stop it from happening because of the design of it. It's basically a ball and socket joint on the end of the stick which turns freely without any means to stop it. I guess a gear knob without any numbers or wrighting on it would solve it

I think he's meaning the models after the BIS. I'd be surprised if the one in the picture spins round too.

yes i mean like the later polish models, the one on ebay looks pretty solid compared to mine

Not sure but i think the later EL - ELX's were made in one piece rubber, with the gear knob moulded on the end
