Title: Oil filter
Post by: Da Londo on July 12, 2016, 05:25:16 PM
I inspected my oil filter today and found the shim bent, is this factory standard?

That looks nice and clean in there. I think that the part you are calling a shim is actually the crankshaft retaining hollow bolt tab washer which you bend onto the nut after you have torqued it up and stops your crankshaft from going walkabout if the bolt worked loose  :)

Aha! So when I replace it I'll bend it again. Thanks!

I replaced the front oil seal recently and realised I'd forgotten to bend the new washer up after I'd reassembled and remounted the engine...

All better now though
