Ive decided to put my 126 up for sale.
Its 1973, blue with boranni wheels, Abarth 650cc, LHD, Taxed MOT'd and ready to enjoy.
Im not certain on a price for this, but will talk to any serious buyers about £.
Its got a couple of bad points at the moment that I need to point out - 2x body repairs (both MOT passes though) and the engine has an ignition gremlin.
Its covered about 28kms and Im based in the Cotswolds.
Cheers Dean

What engine modifications have been carried out apart from the bolt on bits you mentioned?

One, no the only, disappointment for me was to investigate whats been put into the engine and find its actually all standard from what I can see.
I had the head off to clean up an oil leak (head gasket) and had a look at the head; single port with standard valves and chamber giving 7.5:1 c/r. I measured the cam lift and found 6.3mm and 9.3mm at the valve, so that's standard too.
I'd been told it was an 'Abarth spec engine' but its not quite that. Its a 650cc with nice carb, exhaust and the sump and rocker cover.
And its painted red. :P

On the other hand, all it would take to make it a rather tasty engine is to put on a Panda 30 head - all the other bits you'd want to take advantage of the swap are already there, except maybe you might want a different cam - although from what I've read over the years swapping camshafts with these engines is a fairly risky black art, and the most successful/reliable cars are usually described as having a "mild" race cam or words to that effect. This suggests that actually the standard one is pretty good for the sort of use most of us will make of these cars. Or to put it another way, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I don't know if there is such a beast as an "Abarth spec" engine, is there? I imagine Abarth produced hundreds of engines of slightly varying specs, in the nature of rally and race folks. But a 70% increase in power would make the brand name you stick on it rather immaterial!
