Hi All, I have a 1988 Aircooled Polski Fiat 126 with 8000 miles on the clock.
Drove it today 5 miles, upon my return journey I noticed neither the dash oil warning lamp or Battery Charging Lamp comes on when you turn the ignition on? (They don't come on at all even when you turn the engine off)
It druves well and everything else electrical works as it should....
Wondered if anyone else has had this problem, all the fuses are ok, all connections look ok.... Any ideas?
Kind Regards Nick

Are the bulbs ok

Is the engine earth strap OK? The oil light should be easy to test by pulling the connection from the sender and finding a good earth to touch. If the light comes on then the bulb is OK but the sender is not working :)

If fuses and wiring look OK, then most likely source is the internal connections in the ignition switch. It's unlikely a whole load of bulbs will all fail all at the same time unless there was some common fault like a voltage surge that blew them all. But in this case you'd expect also the corresponding fuse to have blown as well.
Easiest test is to run a wire from the battery positive to the various wires coming out of the ignition switch to the bulbs (most likely a single wire to the PCB on the instrument cluster, depending on the model of car). If all the bulbs light, then repeat but with the wire taken from the power IN to the ignition switch. That separates the feed to the ignition switch from the contacts within the switch itself.
(I don't have the circuit diagram to hand and I'm assuming negative earth).
