Hi all. Iv decided to strip down and either get a service kit or just go for new carb.
However I cant seem to remove the carb. I presume there are 4 bolts and I can only undo 3.
So whats the precedure? Thanks
-
There are 4 nuts to undo from the studs.
Sounds like you have found the first 3.
They form a square shape, so you can use that to work out where the 4th one should be.
But good luck with the 4th - its quite buried - very difficult to undo.
I managed it just by using a "stubby" 10 mm spanner and turning it very small amounts each time.

Ok. Thats what I thought but hoped wasn't the case ;-)

Once you get used to doing it takes about minutes to remove

I found a shortend 10mm open ended spanner works brilliantly on the nuts on the right and if you remove the vaccum pump on the left hand side (2 screws) the one on the top left stares straight at you. There's a little nack to it like undoing them half way up then lifting the carb up to give you more room to carring on undoing

Thanks all. Will give it another go. Im not one for 2nd hand parts messing and always prefer new parts so as I probably wont get the refurb kit and mess about with jets I may just get New carb. But from which place is best (doesnt have to be cheapest)? Will it be just Pug n Play if I do that or will it need adjusting etc. The whole reason Im looking at carb is that we had a stuttering (fuel starvation?) at 60mph and that on Tick over theres that slight hessentcy to pick up rev straight away.So it could be the diapham in carb.
It has new everything else ie Engine, fuel pump, points, leads, coil, condensor, plugs etc etc. So having a new carb would compleat the job ;D
Or should I just get carb refurbed at a Garage etc???
I like peace of mind as I fly along :)

I don't think you can buy a "brand new" weber carb anymore, but there are plenty of places that will sell you one on an exchange basis. They take in your old carb and give you a fully refurbished one.
Ricambio and Axel Gerstl both do them.

Thanks. Will look into it.

Mate of mine bought NOS in Poland, you can find em there, Maybe Piotross can help.

I bought a new carburetor two years ago, for a Fiat 126 bis from'89.

You can find gasket for this type of carburetors here: http://www.fiat126vdlaan.nl/catalog/index.php?cPath=61_39
Other place you can try is at PK500: http://www.pk500.be/motoronderdelen/brandstofvoorziening.html
I often order from one of these two places in Belgium and the Netherlands.
You can also find a lot of parts on Ebay.de (germany), but that's probably kicking open an open door ;)
