across the pond we unfortunately have a lot of ethanol in our gas (5-10%) in most regular gas.
does this have any bad effects on the poor little 126p? I think I may just run premium (with No ethanol) just to be safe

The answer is yes, ethanol will attack rubber fuel hoses.
You can use an additive like Ethomix or replace your hoses with SAE 30 R9 specification. Anything less will rot - quickly.

10% is been rolled out in the UK too but the EU want 15% now too which in other countries has eaten some motorbike fuel tanks etc
best thing to do is use Super unleaded or premium as the yanks say :D

I always use super unleaded in my 126s the difference in performance, reducing pinking and also the ethanol issue make the few pence worth it especially considering a tank is less than £20.

yes it well worth it in a little car with a little fuel tank
i use it in my reliant kitten as i built a high compression engine for it, if you dont use super unleaded it does pink on hills
