Title: Not a good day to many flashing lights
Post by: cider on February 13, 2016, 09:54:59 PM
Hi
Well It was all going to plan "radiator cowling repaired and refitted, new bearings in the alternator refilled gearbox
and new plugs and leads" so its time to bleed the cooling system, miss fire now sorted :)  cooling system now sorted.
Things are on the up,Until The fan is switched on :cry:most of the instrument warning lights are now on with both fuel and temp gauges are off the scale :(. When you switch the fan off all lights and gauges return to normal
Heres whats been done
fan switch swopped over as to the fan unit ,different instrument panel and cleaned main battery earth
And stll it lit up like a christmas tree >:(
Are there any more earth points on the bis in the front
Now time for a jar of cider and maybe them pixies will sort it ::)
Cheers
Pete

Hi Pete
There is certainly a earth point on the OSF inner wing and from memory I can't remember if there is one on the NS
Also might be worth checking main engine earth

Bad earths can cause some really strange faults but usually easily fixed

Hi
Yep The main earth been done cleaned with a new bolt and washers fitted :),seem the wiring diagram on the bis cd  must be for an early model bis and not the 1991 version >:( On my fan switch theres two black wires "Earths I believe" one goes to the instrument panel connector B "red" pin 5 and the other I`m not sure at the moment. What I might do is to snip that one  The unknown and run a new earth, but then it might be earth for something else further down the line ::)
More Cider needed :P
Cheers
Pete

Just looked at wiring diagram and the fan shares its earth with the OSF indicator and the earth point is as I said on the inner wing
Hope this helps

Hi
Thank you for your help :D
Just found the earths and they`re behind the washer bags, both look excellent so must be a wire related issue
New wire made and ready to fit :)
Cheers

I always rub all the bits on the earth with a bit of coper grease. Helps keep the rust away...at least, that's the theory.
