Title: Oil for gearbox?
Post by: mikkelloekke on January 25, 2016, 10:10:23 PM
Hi,

Just a simple question: can I use this Castrol oil for the gearbox in my 126p 1989?

http://www.holden.co.uk/displayproduct.asp?sg=3&pgCode=016&sgName=Maintenance&pgName=Oil%2C+Grease+%26+Fluids&agCode=0160&agName=Classic+Castrol+Oil&pCode=090.918

Thanks in advance!

No you need a non EP such as this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Millers-Oils-Classic-Gear-Oil-90-GL3-1-Litre-1L-/171714727401?hash=item27fafecde9

The additives in EP oil will eat your gearbox baulk rings

I bought some from my local motor factors cost about £8.00 for 2 litres I will have a look tomorrow and see what make it is

The original specified oil is ZC90 which is available from here

Dadandlad's suggestion would also be ideal.

As said, avoid anything that mentions "EP"
