.. Ive been capsulated by this guys enthusiasm, skill and above all smart thinking. What a fantastic write up.
My wifes car is a Citroen C1, which uses ( I think), the same 3 cyl engine common rail toyota lump, and is returning 60 mpg , so you should be saving a heap of fuel. Well done. Mike.

Thanks Phillip! I guess, in the near future I have to start washing my hands before I get to work on the car  :D

Been working on the gearshift mechanism. It takes time but, bespoke made parts always fit like a glove  :D.  I hope you agree it looks better than my first attempt:

Thanks Tate!

I had some final welding carried out on the gearbox to get it mounted properly.

Ready to go in!

I made a bracket (mounted on the original gearbox mounting points) to keep the engine in place.

Removed the drive couplings. One has been 'repaired' using silicone sealant  ::).

When dismantling the Toyota shafts, I found this ???...

Did some cutting.. ;D

Made some measurements, did some of the remaining metal bits in a box and send it to the company who promised me to make something usable out of it! My patience is put to the test  8)

That's all for now...

Thanks Norman!

It turned out that the short shaft is not going to work.... The angles it has to make are to big for this short shaft....  :-X Cock-up!! :-X I think the only option (besides putting the old engine back in  :P) is to move the engine a little to the right  ???. So I started up the angle grinder.. Is has moved approx. 2 inches.

When is have both engine mounts in place there'll be more photos.

On with the gearshifter (plan B). I am now going for the Aygo 'cables'. But I had to come up with a adapter to change the pull in a push motion en visa versa....

Any news on the project?

After the debacle with the drive shaft, it's back to the drawing board  :P

I modified the engine mounts on the car... Another advantage is that there is now more room for the radiator.

the next hurdle is to come up with a brilliant route for the exhaust... :headscratch: (it's on the wrong side of the engine! ???)
