125 Bis Transplant
« on: December 11, 2011, 03:40:09 PM »
As you know, I was planning on restoring my blue 126 Bis to its former glory. The car was parked at Proeitti for almost two years resulting in further deterioration in the bodyshell. I recently bought a mint red 126 Bis bodyshell (literally!) with a view to restore this car instead, using the blue Bis as a donor car. I thought I'd focus on applying the anti-rust on the bodyshell and then installing sound deadening material like Dynamat to the floor area and roof. I have some from my yellow Bis which I was supposed to use for the headlining. I need to buy the same orange plastic material and felting for the headlining I used on my yellow Bis .

Progress has been slow. I can only work on it a few hours on Saturday. The car is parked with a friend of mine who owns a garage specialising in Italian cars. He also helps out as a favour.

What I have done so far:

Waxoyled the internal shell
Undersealed chassis
Removed internal fitments for cleaning

I also began looking for other interior bits and pieces. Some of the interior bits on the blue Bis where not in good condition. Many thanks to forum members who kindly provides these.

Recently bought Cinquecento Sporting alloys as well. Now trying to sort out the wheel bolts.
