Different shops = different suspension parts
« on: November 29, 2021, 07:40:57 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'm looking into lowering my 126 a bit. After doing some research I found that I'll need a reversed eye leaf spring, 19cm coil springs and some camber adjustment brackets.

I've looked at 3 different sites to buy these parts and I've noticed some differences.

19cm coil springs:
500mania - https://www.500mania.it/en/prodotto/suspensions-and-brakes/brackets-for-wheel-arms-2/
Fiat500sport - https://www.fiat500sport.com/prodotto/molla-fiat-500-126-e-giardiniera-della-sospensione-posteriore-progressivamolto-rinforzata-h-19-cm/
D'Angelo - https://www.dangelomotori.it/prodotto/molle-posteriori-per-assetto-altezza-19-cm-per-fiat-500-f-l-r-e-126-d-epoca/

Camber brackets:
500mania - https://www.500mania.it/en/prodotto/suspensions-and-brakes/brackets-for-wheel-arms-2/
Fiat500sport - https://www.fiat500sport.com/prodotto/kit-di-staffe-alza-trapezi-anteriori-fiat-500r-126-di-4-cm/
D'Angelo - https://www.dangelomotori.it/prodotto/coppia-staffe-alza-braccetti-anteriori-per-500r-e-126-modifica-assetto-ribassato/

Now my question, what is the difference between these springs and camber brackets?
The spring from D'Angelo is not progressive, the other ones are. But which is best for regular, "fun" driving?
The camber brackets from fiat500sport are 4cm higher, is this ok if I want the car 3cm lower? 500mania doesn't specify the height of there bracket.

Kind regards,
Bert

Hi Minijohn,

Thanks for the reply, if you lived a bit closer I would have bought them from you.
Unfortunately shipping them to Belgium (and paying import tax I think) will be more expensive for me I'm afraid.

Do you know the difference between your plates and the one of 500mania?

Afraid I don't know of any differences.
When I fitted a reverse eye front spring, (with the middle leaf flipped and spring platform height reduced), the bump steer was awful - the car was jumping about all over the road.
I fitted these and the bump steer was gone.
I changed them for a different style as these are a bit fiddly to adjust for caster & camber, but the replacements are not really any different!!

Also, I've fitted rear shock absorbers to the front .
The spring was sitting on the bump stops so I cut them down a bit but I've since found the suspension works better without any bump stops at the front.

BUMP STEER, I had the same problem when I fitted a lower spring, if you do any work on the front suspension/steering you need to get the front end tracked up
