Hy, youre goin to need to do a lot work so good luck.
Those front seats are definetly not original

The question is what look are you going for, racer style or restoring it to look like new?

Try to get some original zastava badges, itll be interesting to hear people asking Its a what?? ower there.  :D

Im planing a visit to the local junkyard in the near future so ill see if there are some badges and ill try to post them to you?

i could just leave it as a two seater sports model! lol  what does the LE stand for on the Zastava 750 LE   ???
Title: ZASTAVA 750 IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Gordan on January 31, 2008, 07:29:49 PM
Dont know really, basically, they changed litlle things and called it a new name to cheat the government. there was a law that prohibited growing of prices due to inflation, so they changed the name to LE, LX or whatever, and marketed it as a new more expensive car...
ill ask my dad about the LE model and let you know later.

http://fiatclassic.com/

They have most of the things you might need. theyre a bit too expensive fot me but... (the zastava 750/850 is actually a bit more advanced fiat 600, which you probably know, so most of the parts are the same.)

They have the rear pannel but it  costs 200€

The LE model was the economic line, which had a lower level of trim (leathercloth seats) and a weaker engine that used less fuel, opposite the SC model which had higher compression engine and a more confortable interrior.

Title: ZASTAVA 750 IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Gordan on February 09, 2008, 11:35:12 AM
Like I said before, most parts of the 126 shouuld fit into the 750, so should the runners.... They even had the same seats, so u can look one up on a locar scrapheap, if your junkyards keep such cars, and if u really want to.........
Title: ZASTAVA 750 IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Paulh81 on February 09, 2008, 02:44:47 PM
no, scrapheaps around here dont stock those sorts of car. My local one just has new cars less than 5 years old... ill look into the runners tho, they would help
Title: ZASTAVA 750 IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aren't 126 runners welded in? (mine are part of the floor...) :???:

Yes i suppose they are... nothing an angle grinder could not handle i suppose. for nowi think ill bolt a subframe to the floor...

Today i finished the floor, painted the door insides to protect them, finished off the painting i did yesterday and fitted my new wooden gearknob (got a wheel to match).
Then i got tempted in to fitting the rear unit id started to build out of carpet and MDF... No luck as the sun has gone down and im off to work... bye

Title: ZASTAVA 750 IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Gordan on February 11, 2008, 12:11:45 AM
its not bad, it has a few +es and -es for my car, there is hardly any snow here so my baby is salt free, but its a mediterranean town so there are many steep climbs, which i fear will be the death of my engine  :???: .

Rijeka is sadly not a top tourist destination so you shuld visit places like Dubrovnik or Opatija, which is nearby..

If u decide to pop on downhere let me know, ill give you a tour of the place, just make sure you bring your bis.

P.s. Im thinking about organising a local 126 club, as there are many still roaming around, so I was wondering how you guys started, I was thinking firest of a nice web site....

Well over here thers a green racing 750 with Kawasaki ZX-9R engine, im not saying its easy, but its doable. (and once youre done you get a reall beast   )

P.s. we call those cars FICO (little fiat) and sice this one has a Kawasaki motor, its called Ficosaki  and yeah,m it eats porsches for breakfast....

I was thinking more along the lines of a Fire 903cc out of a cinq and then tuning it up... just so the zastava keeps up with modern traffic

Dont want a big Hp boost but a moderate one, as the zastava has just 30hp was looking to get 55 - 60hp

The latest zastavas vere the 850, which had a 850cc engine and packed quite a punch, i see this as the easiest upgrade avaliable, but sadly i doubt you could get one in the uk...
Title: ZASTAVA 750 IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Paulh81 on February 12, 2008, 09:18:47 PM
yes i doubt it as not many were made compared to the 750... i would like an easy job, and would love a 1000cc! ive been informed to get an 899 from a cinq, uno or punto as it shud go right in.

BTW, can you get the zastava registered in the uk, i remember something about it being from lihuania or something on the ebay ad... :?:

Beats me, never seen it done on a zastava, but try doing what i did with my bis, take all the wires and pipes off, mark them so you know where they go back, put something under it (i used a standard VW jack to lift it a little) then unscrew that main screw on the wallance and then the screws on the gearbox (clutch), it should be the same principle, but im not sure....

Hay paul, got some questions, -do those seats fit in the zastava, they look a little big    -is the zastava any bigger than the BIS, cos i had a grat argument with my bud the other day which has more room inside/which was more useful.... (nothing could beat my hatchback argument :D )

Hows the work goin, no new pics :?:

 :D

id say the bis has a much better use of room... and more luggage space, but the inside is about the same, so i hope the seats fit.. no new pics yet

turn the lever til the winder handle is pointing up, pull the handle away from the door  and look down the back youll see a small metal clip which goes 3/4 of the way around the "shaft" push one end of the clip with a screw driver and it will ping off (at which point you most likely lose it..)

just stuck the clip back on the winder then push it on firmly to re-attach...

try wrapping a thin rag under the wider and pull it side to side the rag should catch on the clip and pull it out. If this doesn't work use a couple of small screwdrivers. hopes this helps

Ive seen the Zastava on Ebay. Its a nice little car... sure beats the 126's that are on ebay at the minute.

theres a chav mobile (that you have to pick up from croatia), a white one with flowers and beetles on, and a Bright pink abomination.

Anyway.... back to the point :P

Nice car..
