RHD 1977 Fiat 126 TA
« on: June 04, 2015, 10:34:40 AM »
Hi All,

I have managed to purchase RHD Fiat 126 TA 1977. Not in the best shape however doesn't require much work to bring it to live. Bodywork seems to be the weak point. Engine in a decent shape, interior not too bad at all. Nevertheless my little fiat will be completely rebuild. Engine and suspension will be first . Starts by the end of June. Shortly afterwards bodywork and interior.
The only thing that's missing is the closer of the sunroof. Sadly it seems to be unobtainable. Even fiat dealership is unable to source it.
Please let me know if anyone has got a spare one.
Will provide some pics shortly.

Ps. Wish me luck with rebuild!

Welcome to the club!   ;D Good luck with the project.
I managed to get my sunroof working again, a fair bit of faffing around and altering parts.  Most bits came from http://www.ricambio.co.uk/69-fiat/72-classic-fiat-126-parts/161-sunroof
Some are from the Fiat 500 so needed altering  :o  but it was worth it :D

Be careful buying a front frame for a 500 for you 126 sun roof. I got one and apparently I only had to re-profile it a bit and it was supposed to do the trick ( flatter curve to the roof line than a 500) it worked up to the point of locking but would not stay latched into the over-centre position, so I had to hold it shut with a piece of locking wire! In the end I dug out my old rusty 126 frame, refurbished it and fitted it back on the car, no more problems.

Good luck with the rebuild, a car well worth saving. The plastic sun roof clip on my DeVille decided to break in half one day so I ordered a metal one. It needed a little work to make it fit but is now fine. Some weeks later I was looking for something in all my spare parts and discovered I already had two new ones  :$
So if you have problems getting one let me know  :)
