I never knew there was a tool for that.
I normally just hit the cap with a rubber mallet.
You could use a large socket or a piece of steel tubing (loads for sale on ebay)

One of the old caps was bent and distorted it was leaking grease, contaminating shoes. Bought new caps which were a megatight fit. Determined not to take it to the garage I made a punch out of some tube and turned up an ally end cap. Went on like a dream
