without the tourists the island would go bust :cool: bet you love the IOW sccoter rally in august, we are just one of 5000 to 7000 scooters! think of the money that brings in with camping, beer, food, entertainment, hotels etc.

thing is, its soooo dull on the south coast what with the awful towns and cities of bournemouth, southampton and portsmouth, the island is a lovely escape for a day.

bounemouth??? awful? Its really quite up and coming down there, i was there only for a few hours the other day and found it really nice, i hadnt been since i was a small child (those were the days), southampton and portsmouth on the other hand are in need of alot development though.

i hope we can do some sort of run this summer along the sea front,
i was wanting to do the classic car show on IOW. Would you be interested Barry? i paid Ã‚Â£80 last summer to go over on the ferry with my BIS, do you think that will put people off?

Bournemouth used to be lovely, its now a drink and drug induced crime ridden dump. apparently the centre square mile is the worst in the UK for drunken violence. I work there and see all sorts of things, many local people have moved away. true its been redeveloped nicley and during the day you would think its fine, also there are more things to do at night now, but at a price. Ã‚Â£80 for the IOW, thats outrageous, you can get to France for half that! TBH, I tend to mainly do the Italian themed shows, apart from Uxbridge as its more my thing, seen far too amy MGs and Minors for my liking now

Am doing Brooklands, Standford Hall, either in Panda or 126. Might make Gaydon too.

dont forget retro rides that will be a blast, get the show dates down and make everyone aware i am sure i can get a wreck to one of them.

anyhow i thought this thread was about "showing your face" etc , not about show dates and ferry prices,,, and also dave 126 where is your mugshot? come on lets have be havin ya!! i will get a suitable photo up soon however broke the camera on my first attempt!!

....i didnt think it was ever that bad.
wightlink do 'special offers' and you can usually get a family of four over with a car for about Ã‚Â£28 :cool:
......although i guess it depends how long you stay.

and yes....the scooter rallies are mad in summer. Great fun to see so many in such a small place, but it can be a bit hectic on the roads. :roll:
