My 126 project
« on: May 23, 2015, 11:54:58 PM »
Having neglected my 1973 126, abused it by leaving in a farmers field for ten years just a mile up the road from my place. I had to look at it as I cycled past to my local drinking hole, I felt bad about that so had to have 1 extra pint each time!. The little car was up to its doors in mud, the farmer in his wisdom opened the drivers window for some unknown reason. Luckily the car had been ziebarted from new. The outer front panels had dissolved and the boot lid had. The picture shows a later boot lid fitted but I have managed to source a correct lid from Club Member Chris from Halifax. The 126 should be back on the road within the next month all being well

Glad to see you have taken pity on the wee car. I spy a GAMINE 500, looks to be one of the Noddy coloured variety. I have a 1968 GAMINE which needs some love and attention to the wing arches.

I am shocked with how good the car is. The front panel and front wings were rusted out, as was the boot lid. The carpet had a layer of grass and moss on it. The engine started first time after cleaning the points. I have replaced any rusty metal and painted her in the original colour (I know its not the best choice, but it is original. She is going to be my daily driver. Yes, the keen eyed ones amongst you spotted my Gamine, this will be restored once the 126 is on the road.

It's great to hear that you are keeping it original and yellow is a very rare colour for the early cars. :)
