126 Bis - replacing rear shock absorbers
« on: May 25, 2015, 05:36:10 PM »
We've traced a horrible rattle to what must be a broken rear shock absorber on our 126 Bis.
Please can someone advise on how to replace the rear shocks on a Bis.
Is it a case of putting the car on axle stands, put a jack under the rear wishbone to take the weight, undo the nut on the top of the shocker and the bolt through the bottom and manoeuvre it out the bottom - or am I being wildly optimistic?

No that's dead on  ;D only you'll probably need to grip the body of the shock to stop it from spinning as you turn the top nut

Fantastic - thankyou.
Just had another look and the upper flexible bushes have crumbled away almost completely leaving the shocker rattling around in the mount. No wonder it was noisy!
We wanted to replace the rear shocks anyway so think we'll do just that.
