 Its been a long and hard decicsion to make but I think I will have to sell my 126. Its been brought about by a knee condition which makes using the 126 for any distance extremely painful. Anyway at the moment its off the road with no MOT or tax, but come the better weather Ill get an MOT then probably ebay her. Ive owned her since 1999 so its a tough thing to do especially as she is in such great condition.

barry dont worry about e bay raffle it on the forum . i can win it then spray it matt black! dont do it you know you will regret it !

Are you really sure? It will really be a shame. You will miss the car, miss the shows and miss the forum.
Sleep on it
-

-
thing is Barry is a big chap pete, would be great if he could though
would be superb if we could sort somthing out for him.

basically, having my knee bent for any lenghth of time is killing it. Even in the Panda it hurts. Im not going to do anything about the 126 till spring anyway, by then I hope to have seen a specialist, hopefully he might be able to fix me!!! If I can keep driving the 126 she will stay, will have to see
-
fingers crossed for you mate,
im sorry about your knee, been bad for a while?

sure has, been off and on but now more on chris! btw mate, I need to renew my membership, sorry I forgot but havent spoke to you since uxbridge!!!! how do I renew, sorry
-
well lets hope it goes away, once and for all.
Barry membership can be renewed by sending a cheque of £12 made payable to FIAT 126 CLUB you get a tax disc holder with that :)
its my own fault i should have sent out reminders to all our members.
Its £12 for current members to renew and still £16 for new comers as they get all the bits with it.
there is no hurry to rejoin, you dont have to if you dont want to mate, you can wait and see what happens in the spring.
cheers bud

cheers chris, will mail that to you, always like to pay my way

barry rip out the front seats and sit in the back and let your missus do the driving!
-
i am tallish with knee problems too and can't get behind the wheel in a Matiz, but i have no problem with my 126, there is a small mod needed first but after that it is fine. to make the car fit a bigger driver bend the rear stops on the seat runners so you can push the seat all the way back untill it is about an inch away from the rear seat, this has allowed me to drive for many miles without discomfort. only prob is it does not leave much room for rear passengers, they need to sit sideways with their legs in the centre of the car or one leg each side of the front seat.

I will try that Bruce, just told the wife Im thinking of selling and she said she would divorce me if I sold the 126  I like the idea of shifting the seat though.
-
haha Barry most wives would get the chapaigne out!
sBarry do you have much headroom left? or are you nearly touching roof?
the reason i think its bad for drivers knees is because the seat sinks too much, if you could get the seat higher i think it would take pressure off your knees (as well as move the seat back further)
Barry have you tried fitting a cinq or seicento seat?

Chris

loads of headroom, I have sorted the seat base, I added an extra layer of thin foam then under that some vinyl to make it taut. Seat hardly sinks at all. Ill get there! cheques on the way!
-
bruce's idea of the seat further back is bang on....my cobras are mounted so far back that the rear seat squab has been takin out for them...! i also binned the very heavy seat back as well....mine just a two seater now with luggage storage behind the seats

Well, done lots of thinking on this and its definately for sale... going to seriously reduce vehicles and just concentrate on my scooters (vespa, lambretta). Basically my 126 doesnt get out enough, Ive owned it for years and I feel it needs a new owner to enjoy it. I just dont enjoy driving like I once did, mainly because of the awful gridlocked roads down here and useless driving. On my scooters it doesnt matter, just whizz through the jams and have a good laugh. At the moment its MOT less so need to sort one out... if anyone knows anyone interested then let me know, I shall probably ebay her but would rather someone from here had it.
-
i think im going to cry  its a sad sad day in the short history of the 126 club.
Barry, im pleased you at least thought it through properly i hate seeing people rush into selling their 126's,
we'll find it a good owner! hopefully a club member! :)
