I cant believe they said no way! i have a feeling someone will drive it illegaly then???, i mean they shouldnt!!! but if they have bought it for ?3k and dvla wont allow it, what else will they do with it?

Barry, can you remind me again why they said no? i remember you telling me. Was it due to the CAT on it?

I don't know about there but you can do a svi test (single vehicle import) for cars imported less than 10 years old.Worst case you could register a car here and get it tested (still UK legal).

They said it would need SVA test and also drive by noise test, that was if brand new. They also said it would have to have a 3 way cat as it has a single way one fitted. A place in Sweden does them but at a price. Basically I was looking at ?1000 worth of tests which it may not have even passed! When chatting to the Dutch lady with the convertible she said in Holland it doesnt need the cat so she removed it. (its a 1995 car btw). Also she took all the emmission junk off and converted the ignition from electronic back to distributor. Apparently the electronic set up is unreliable and evn in Poland hard and expensive to find new. So she has a 95 car running 80s stuff, cool and why cant we do that? Also their MOT is every 2 years and on pre 1970 something no MOT!!!!!

wow no MOT!!! could you imagine that!! classic cars would be everywhere on the road!!!

The emissons stuff/Cat slow the car down a little??

Barry that sounded like a load of hassle!! I wonder why they havnt just bought a low milage right hand dirve one from over here

----------

Oh before i forget ive had a nice bloke called Andy email me wanting to sell his aircooled, here are details:

Very relucantly I am offering for sale Beryl. My 1987 126 FSM, with 36,000 miles on the clock. She is Maroon in colour, with the "tweedy" cloth interior. The body is good and she goes like the clappers as she has a "sports" exhaust fitted. Currently she has no MOT or tax as I haven't got round to getting it done. I am looking for ?300 as she is. It is purely time, inclination , 2 Lancia Gammas, 3 Lancia Betas, another 126 and an 850 idromatic which prevent me from getting Beryl back on the road as my every day car!!! Please give her a good home.
Located in Wiltshire, please call me on 01249 782506 to arrange a viewing. Thanks, Andy.

-------------------------------

Lets find a home for this superb car!!! a pic of Beryl is coming soon!

The clue is in the post, he says he has another 126 which prevents him getting that one on the road... so, it must be the worse of the two, because you wouldnt sell your best one!

Ive had a few emails from him, the amount of cars he owns is amazing!

you really would have to see the car for yourself, i jus thought i'd let you all know about it. He sold the car to someone last year i think it was he said, and bought it back off him, so it must be in a fair condition for him to buy it again. I really cant say though, i will post a pic up for you all as soon as he emails me.
