Petrol Crisis!!!
« on: September 13, 2005, 08:55:50 AM »
Was driving round at gone twelve last night, finding a garage who had petrol left and who was open, a nightmare!  :x

Got up at 6:30 to get petrol, madness people swearing at each other, i found out the garage was telling people they didnt have any rather than  and face angry and desperate customers. Some of whom were in 4x4!!!

Anybody else finding it hard to get petrol even before the protests have started?

Yes, at present i dont think anyone needs to protest, they just say they will, let the media make a big issue of it and all the work is done for them!

I still havnt got any petrol, so i will be on my push bike

There was a man in a big american styled truck at the petrol station, really having a go at another bloke, this was at 7.00 this morning!

I heard on the radio, they want to bring super HGV's to Britain, twice the size and weight of the current ones

My Dad went shopping yesterday morning and it just started round our area.
I don't have a bike or a car, so I don't care. My dad has a Grand Voyager 3.2ltr and a V8 G20 Chevy Day Van, and if he has no fuel to get to work. He won't go work.

My old Yamaha tw125 done about 120 to the tank and that cost ?6 (that was when it was 83p a ltr).

I love American cars, they are so lucky they have cheap petrol! well not at the moment as we have all heard. I bet it costs your dad a fortune to run his cars.

I was getting nearly 50mpg in my bis, before it broke down. i got a new fuel pump for it, also i won a mini cooper chrome pancake airfilter off ebay, it came through this morning, i will have to do some cutting to make it big enough. Looks nice though! Picture doesnt do it justice!

i would love a vespa, Barry is it a new vespa or retro one?

Chris

Its not as much as you would think. The 3.2 V6 does the same mpg, as the V8 Chevy G20 Dayvan (4 tones of it). Cost 41 do get from northampton to Lancashire (don't know the miles)

Hi paul, i hope you had a good time, it only seemed like a few days ago ou were leaving for france.

Yes im sorry to hear about the rioting! i hope its not happening near where you are! Not a nice way to come back to Belfast from your holiday.

I've been chatting via email to a guy in NI who makes custom exhausts, stuart from the ni italian car club (who posts on  here) put me in touch with him. He seemed like a very reliable chap, hes into alfa romeos. (fast ones)

John thats really good MPG for a vehicle like that!!

126 FACT: "Graham Hill drove a 126 all the way from London to Brighton on only one gallon of petrol" - this was in a 1980 fiat 126 brochure i bought off ebay the other day.

Graham Hill was killed when he crashed in his light plane into a golf course, he was the pilot. Yes that was in 1975, I looked all this up on the BBC webiste. Apparently he was a really decent bloke. a bit before my time though

does  anybody have any tips for driving economically? i mean Graham Hill must of been traveling in neutral for most of the way to only use a gallon of fuel.
