Hi Everyone,

After first seeing the 126 in Italy over 15 years ago, I'm finally the proud owner of a 1987 RHD Fiat 126 Brown.
First time attempting a car project but looking forward to getting stuck in. Sure ill have lots of questions and spending most my time checking out the Restoration section, so thanks in advance for everyone's help

I would personally try to get it back it back to the original spec. Perhaps cut the welded in plate with a dremel tool to see what's going on. Hopefully the light retaining bracket is still there, can you gain access to the rear of the panel to check for this?

Hi Chris,
I can see the outline of the weld inside. One side is bracket shaped, but is flush with the panel so looks like its been flattened out. (Not sure what the other patch is next to it..) it needs a bit of welding work, so I'll see if I can get a new bracket to bring it back to original.

Not gunna be on the road this summer unfortunately, im 1/2 way through stripping the engine at the moment and planning to tackle the non working brakes next (which i found out while pushing downhill into my garage.. )

If I were you, I'd fit a complete new front panel - the one you have doesn't look in the best condition.
It's not very difficult (so long as you can use a welder)
Here's my car a couple of years ago...
