Tyre Sizes
« on: November 14, 2017, 07:32:50 AM »
Following on from my post re wheels on my '76 car I need to fit new tyres to the refurbished wheels. Previously it was riding on 145/R12 on the back and 135/R12 on the front!

Am I correct in saying 135/R12 was the original size? I can't see any point in changing, would that be the general view?

I'll check what I've got on mine Mike and let you know. This is a good place to buy them from at a good price:

Hi!

That is correct. 135R12 is the original size, same as 135/80R12, which is a newer standard. The older one is 82% of the width. 145/70R12 is just perfect and also good looking over the rims.145/80R12 is a bit too much.

only just seen this! I presume 135/80 is standard size for 12's- I have 3 sets of them and they all had 135's on :)
