Door Gaps
« on: September 21, 2017, 06:46:27 AM »
I'm in the process of replacing wings, sills and floor sections on a car I purchased for restoration. Both existing front wings have small dings near the repeaters that correspond with the front edges of the doors folding against them. The door retaining clips are not adjustable. It seems that the only way to prevent the doors and wings from touching is to increase the gap between the door front edge and the wing with the consequence of a reduced gap between the door edge and the rear panel. This leaves it looking a bit odd in my eyes in that the door gap is not equal distant all the way round. It could be of course that the doors are non-original but as far as I'm aware their size did not change over the years, mine is a '76 car. Is this just the way it is or am I missing something here?
