bis electronic ignition
« on: March 17, 2017, 09:29:38 PM »
Hi all 8) Sorry but I haven't posted on here for ages :$.
Well after my wife had a strop and told me to get that heap of **** started, I got kicked outside with my youngest son and BY JOVE it very well did :P It's been sitting there for years :$.
Anyway I thought I can't stand these points any more, I know a few of you have done conversions to the dizzy but I have found this site www.ignitioncarparts.co.uk product code PDD6678 E.
Has anyone used them and how have you got on.
Colin.

Okay, do you think this setup would work? I know it's a lot of money to splash-out compared to the Accuspark but they do all of the work. Yes I'm lazy. :$

I know mintex has used the accuspark kit on his.

Would definitely be interested to hear how this kit turns out

Hi Pete, sorry for long wait for a reply.  I am bone idle so I'm looking for a quick fix PLUS I don't want to stuff up my dizzy.

No quick fix I'm afraid as at the moment there isn't a kit for the BIS so adaping the accuspark one like mintex has done is the only cost effective way.

There is of course a NON cost effective way and that's buying a full distributorless ignition set up which uses a trigger an ignition module but at 380 odd pounds it's quite a lot plus you'll have to adapt it to fit the BIS as (per usual) it's made for the air cooled

What about the one mentioned above? Looks promising and would just need fitted then perhaps tweaked...

My accuspark one has worked well and i think the car starts better and runs better for it but its not a simple bolt on job and if i had found a simple replacement dizzy i would have bought it,  that one you found looks like it might be a simple replacement  :good:

Wonder what the surcharge is for.

Would rather buy the AccuSpark for, what was it £40? then take a trip down and pay Mintex to fit it  ;)

Wow  :o , so it starts at £95, then a £70 surcharge plus £33 vat so ends up at £198.00   :o :o

Haha, i should start a service  :).  I got hold of another dizzy and fitted the accuspark to that one and also left in the original wires so i could change back to the old points/condenser one within minutes if ever needed.
