hi from the midlands
« on: February 03, 2016, 10:50:25 PM »
Hi everyone.
I bought a G refg BIS just before christmas and am finally getting round to introducing myself! I will also soon be starting a build thread. It's not been the best start to ownership, absolutely love the little guy but after 2 days of driving dropped third gear (there was a thimble's worth of oil) and the head gasket blew (which turned out to be a hack job of a repair) and turns out the engine is a lot more worn than the 13,000 miles would suggest. Luckily the body is rust free and in superb condition.
The plan is to get the little guy running and try and get a nice set of minilites on him. Been taking plenty of pics so should be able to start uploading the build thread so far at the weekend.

Hi and welcome  :D head gaskets can be an issue if the motor hasn't been looked after properly so if you do a rebuild, make sure you use quality parts and flush the water system out thoroughly and you should see lots of happy miles :)

Welcome to the club, good to know of a car in the Midlands

The BIS is a tricky little thing but when when it works it's one of the best classics out there

Any questions don't hesitate to ask

I had the same thing in my car. At the beginning gearbox, after this cylinder gasket and repair engine...  after purchase everything was wrong, I had 11 owners before me and everyone wrote down this car to loss... Your car looks good... enjoy! :)
