A 126 as a tourer? Ideal for kids who need regular toilet breaks - you have to stop every few miles for petrol, the tanks that small. BIS refers to the gaskets - Blown In Seconds  :D

I've driven my 126 aircooler many times on 800mile round trips sat at 65-70mph for hours (except the odd hill). Would anyone take a BIS to Mongolia with any confidence at all?

Hi,
As far as I know, BIS in Latin means TWICE ,ONCE AGAIN or REPETITION, I am Portuguese and when i was at school I learned that the portuguese language has been derived from Latin .

went to york in my FSM, two of us in the car, on a slightly down hill part of the motorway (ahem, private road) the speedo was reading well past 80. mates behind said they clocked us at 90 at one point. a steady 75/80 on the flat with two of us in seemed the norm. down to 65 up hill though.

Stil needs a bigger engine though. ;)

mmnn, they were originaly,at 16odd bhp,but the 650 is in quite a high state of tune(relativly),and can over rev the crank, also timing chains can snap....................ask bis 13,remember,nearly every 126 has had a crap service record...........even at low milage they have suffered from clogged filters/ cheapest oil etc etc....stick a rev counter in,keep to 5000 max with good oil etc.......my standard 650 will rev out to 5000+ in second..so your downhill runs are prob up to a sustained 5500/6000rpm.....not good....

the car i have now was blown up on the motrway coming to jersey, the guy just held it flat out,it went with a big bang he told me,snapped crank said the recovery/mech guy..........

hmm yeah fair point about the later engine in mine being quite high tune relatively. Full fiat service history though but i will keep it steady on the motorway runs. what speed is 5000rpm in top gear roughly?
