Allegro, has anyone in the UK successfully used it?!
« on: February 03, 2019, 04:38:16 PM »
Hello all

I specifically need either a gearbox rebuild or to buy an already rebuilt one, Allegro has some wicked prices but i cant seem to get a response from any sellers,

Has anyone managed to buy anything and have it shipped to the uk?

If so, whats the best way to go about it?

Cheers!

Whenever I've used Allegro I buy the item as normal and enter my UK address. Normally this prompts the seller to PM me and add additional postage, so I reply back in Polish using Google Translate and it's worked out ok.

Perhaps you've just been unlucky, as some sellers don't cater to international buyers, even though we're willing to pay the extra postage.

Thanks for your reply, I see, okay so you go through with the purchase as usual and the seller has contacted you after? And assuming if they dont message then the item will be shipped regardless?

I wouldnt want to end up paying and the item not getting shipped, would that be a worry in doing this??

Ah I see your concern, probably a good idea to message them first then.

Having my first go at the moment.

I hope the fella takes PayPal if not I’ll have to get my wife to do a transfer.

So far I clicked on buy it now. Picked a shipping method then it said it would arrive cash on delivery. Since had an email from the seller saying he wants a transfer and more for the shipping. Still rather cheap!!

I’ll let you know how I get on.

Or you could check if Piotross can be of any help in finding what you need.

Sounds like you've got it working there!
I have messaged the seller before buying just to check as it is a gearbox... not small... but i wonder how long it will take for a response  :-
Maybe i could do as you have and see what happens, but im sceptical either way  :P

let us know how you get on!

Guys what do you need from rare original parts? Most of sellers with good old stock parts won't make a worldwide shippments. They are local sellers

Update,
The seller emailed me to say he won’t do cash on delivery (I was expecting that) but dhl was ok. A bit more for shipping but still very cheap. He hasn’t got PayPal so I sent it to my Polish friend and he transferred it. I would’ve but my wife would’ve had to do it but she’s quite pregnant and it wasn’t worth the pain!
So hopefully it has all worked and my part will be here soon.

I have used Allegro for about 20 years, never had problems.
But I speak Polish and have an address I can use in Poland.
When I have a pile of parts courier them to the UK 😊
