decided to sort out the welding for the mot today as i sick of coming home and seeing alan looking unhappy at the end of the drive , there was (or so I thought) a small hole that needed patching behind the passenger side sill sadly when i started diggin i found this-

I made a patch for the front so-

then one in at the back..

I have tacked them in place and will finish them tomorrow and post some "all done" pics, then he's all ready for its mot!

you aint wrong gordan, they did look pretty solid so I followed the "dont fix what aint broke" logic to them, At some point I intend on replacing the sills, wings and front panel as they are all not as good as I would like but I dont want another dead car laying around so its getting patched for now and when I am ready (read-when I have got all the panels cheap from ebay) it will all get done... :D

Congrats on your hard work, i know the feeling. I'm doing mine at the moment and have finished the bodywork about a month ago (same symptoms: sills and fenders + other holes here and there) and can hardly wait to get the paint job done and onto its wheels after being on blocks since May :)
Question: how strict is the MOT over there? Just that here from Jan 01 2010 if the car doesn't pass MOT first time round then it's taken immediately off the road (i.e. no number plate....)

wing an sill off the other side and a test fit of the new sill- lookin good! (much easier this time-proper spot weld  drills are a blessing)-
