Immobilisers ???
« on: January 26, 2018, 04:18:20 PM »
Hi guys I have an immobiliser fitted on my little fiat 126 and am having issues with it. It was already fitted by a previous owner and am struggling to find any information on how to fix/remove it.

Has anyone on here got one fitted? Or any information to help?

Basically it currently won’t switch off meaning I can’t start my engine :(

Any help greatly appreciated

This should be easy to sort. If you have a photo it would make it easier to see but it should work by somehow stopping the current from the battery going to either the coil or the ignition switch unless your immobiliser key is used so basically you need to find the wire/wires going into your immobiliser and reconnect them with the wires going out. Where abouts is the immobiliser fitted?

Thanks for the help with this :)

Problem: I’m not sure where on the car it is fitted... I’ve looked in the bonnet but can’t see anything! Any chance it’s could be fitted under the car?

Once I find it I can get pictures.

Normally I’m pretty good at doing fixes on my little car but as I’ve never dealt with this before and it’s not in the manual I need all the help I can get :)

Ok, how is it activated? Is it a kind of key?

Try under the passenger side of the dash, between their knees.  Mine uses a small security key.

Doesn’t use a key... it uses a keyfob (button on key ring, not attached to the key in anyway).

Does that change it in any way?

Hi there,
I'll start with the daft question first - Is the battery in the keyfob ok?

It will be an aftermarket device, so you'll have to do a bit of digging.
With the car immobilised, does the starter motor turn?
If yes - then the immobiliser is probably interrupting the coil.
If No - The immobiliser is probably interrupting the starter and maybe the coil as well.

Do the other electrics work with the ignition on (lights? Dash lights? wipers?)
If yes then the alarm is going to be between the ignition switch and the engine bay (under the seat? in the rear door bins?)

If you can find out where the box is you can bypass it and remove it.
Wiring is a nuisance to trace, but there aren't many places to hide things in a 126 so that's the best way to find it.
Rust does not discriminate
