Clutch change 126 Bis water cooled
« on: November 24, 2005, 07:52:30 PM »
The Puttputt ran out of clutch last week. I do not want to be controverial but I think it maybe a lot quicker taking the engine out . The manual says to disconnect the driveshafts and drop the final drive. I showed the 126 manual to my non English speaking demon Gozitan mechanic. Through his wife who acted as interpreter he said  Le Le (no no )it is far quicker taking the engine out. I helped and it only took us 90 minutes to do the job start to finish. It was not the clutch plate (it was perfect after 17,000 miles ). The pressure plate had fractured. I also noticed that the driveshaft gaiters were perished and decided to replace them as well a couple of days later. Cost £2 80 pair !!  Job took 75 minutes. Labour charge for both jobs £32
