Here i go again....
« on: February 16, 2019, 02:54:23 PM »
Hello everyone.

I have gone and done it, i bought a 126 bis in a bit of a sorry state, but i hope over time to turn it into a beautifull swan :D
Problems: gearbox is broken, rest of the car is pretty tattered, but it has potetntial and is not rusted thru anywhere.

Plans: complete restoration, plastic delete and chrome all around, new interrior, a working engine and gearbox.

Time - frame: Forever :D

Wish me luck.

Kind regards, Gordan.

So the fun has started, oh all those memories comming back :D

So far the things we have done:
-washed the car to remove 3 years Worth of muck (not to make the car pretty mind you, but to see what we are dealing with
-took off the bumpers (im going for chrome on this one)
-had a good poke around (the front panel with the lights is damaged and will be replaced, a few rust spots around the wheels - the sills were replaced by the previous owner so they are ok)
-removed the engine and in the process of washing it and replacing all the gaskets and seals (wouldnt you Know it, the head gasket blew, luckily i got the whole gasket set).
-Near future plans: clean the engine and the tranny
-put new fluids in, new sensors (lol), hoses, water pump
-rebuild the carb
-flush the radiator
-repair the gearbox (the bearings are destroyed, need new mounts..)
-make everything shiny…
Some pics so far....

p.s. Does anyone Know why some engines have Fiat Lancia written on them some dont (like mine)

I got a big private stock of new parts for Fiat 126

Just please to send me a list of parts you need and I could make an offer with prices for you. If I don't have a needed position I could get it quickly :)

Christmas came early :)

Thing is the panel is from the el model but i am sure it will fit. This will quite literally be a facelift :D

...In other news my gearbox is total shyte so i will be buying a used unit and using the best parts from both...

Slowly but surely the project is going along, i am in the process of accumulating new parts, will keep you posted.!

Did I say "is not rusted thru anywhere."?? LOL
In the words of Eric Cartmann, "I dont think its for using, I think its just for looking thru." LOL

Well i got a few holes here and there, but we will patch them all up. My baby bis has so far been stripped down, front panel removed and I am in the process of destroying the dreaded rust worm...

And the facelifted front panel test fit (fits -almost- perfectly)

Oh btw does anyone know the code for the paint in this pic, its the look im going for:
