give that carb some love, the fact that the choke needs to be on suggests a lean mix perhaps the jets need replacing or at least cleaning (not by physical means which may cause damage but using carb cleaner), also check the timing, not familiar with the ac carb but it may be a flat spot between the pilot jet which it runs on when at tickover and the main jet which it runs on when the throttle is opened so when you blip the throttle it cuts out as the main is not providing enough fuel at that point as needle too low? Like I said not familiar with the ac carb but is just a general carb principal observation! Be mindfull that the original timing settings will be for leaded fuel and not modern fuel which has a different burn rate and optimum ignition point. Set it to standard and then raise the tickover and move the distributor untill a consistant even exhaust note is found (consistant running bum bum bum bum not bum bum bot bum bum bot),back down the revs and repeat moving the dizzy either way will result in faltering you have to move it either way to find the optimum point and then lock it off! Multiple consistant Bum Bum is good ! find the Bum Bum!
Good Luck Llllllloyd
