Clutch lining thickness 126p 650A/C
« on: July 02, 2011, 11:57:55 PM »
I've been thru the books I have and searched here, but can't find specs of clutchplate linings i.e. What should new linings be and/or service limits for a used clutchplate / linings.
Has anyone got this info  ?

There's not much information regarding dimensions of clutch plates for the126.  I usually do a visual inspection,  if there is not much clutch material left to the rivets, I would just replace.

The only information that I did find is on the pic attached.  Looks like the standard thickness of a new clutch plate is 7.9mm (Dimension S). Haynes manuals recommend to change the clutch plate if the linings are more than three quarters worn.

I just measured a new clutch driven plate and it is indeed 7.9mms thick. If you need any other measurements while I have the clutch to hand just let me know  :)

If they are only 7.9 from new, then I have plenty of meat left on mine.
I had just done my first oil change since buying the car, and found that you can't pour it in the top too fast, the hard way. BLUP and it belched oil up and over and down the back of the motor. Went under to clean up and decided to take off the tin bell housing cover while under there for a "look see".
I thought it looked thin but obviously not. Only a small motor after all !

Thanks Chris for your help.

When adding oil to any Fiat remove the dipstick.

Never found a problem on either of my twin cams or my other pushrod Fiats.
