Winters coming so...
« on: October 16, 2010, 10:19:11 PM »
I decided to re-fit the heater cowling. New thermostat was purchased but to my horror it is not opening! :(

This is the second one I've had and loosing the will with them thus I have a plan.

I was thinking of a cable operated flap.
I'll simply keep it open in summer but could aid the heater [-/

The only thing I can see for this is to get a fairly accurate temperature gauge working then regulate it on that, surely this has to be more effective!

Yes I have just refitted mine after a couple of early morning dodgey moments and you have reminded me to check mine is opening OK , it was before I removed it. Easy to ckeck off the car though , just dump the thermostat in boiling water and the movement should be obvious. I was having an arguement with a certain Bis owner the other night when he refused to believe how cosy the aircooled cars can get with that heater  [-/

Hi, guys! Use better the newer type of thermostat. The old one is piece of junk.
