i'd still go for a 126. i dont get uncomfortable at all.. i have done a ~2000km road trip in one, and i'd do it again. stuff the smart, i bet it'd be more uncomfortable anyway.

another car has been introduced to add to the fight, this one is a 4 seater; the Mitsubishi i,

it is realy clever and inovative (not), to save space and make the car smaller on the outside they have moved the 659cc engine to under the boot floor.

all this inovation (or should that be coppying) has produced a car that is stiil way bigger than a 126, it is even bigger than the latest bigger (longer) Smart 4 2, which I believe is even longer than a 126 possibly even with its bumpers on.

My neighbours have a shart car, they cannot walk past our 126 without admiring it. They have only had it 3 months and it has had 700 plus spent in repairs. They are not good cars. The 126 probably isn't the most reliable, most comfortable or most capable of cars, but it is cheap and easy to repair, economical, a quite unexpected babe magnet (and nostalgic older person magnet), bloody good fun and as cute as you like.
No contest!

I had both a Smart Roadster and a 126 at the same time. I have to say that the Smart was fantastic! The Fortwo I agree isnt very 'smart' but the Roadster is a different animal altogether, it really captures the spirit of the Triumph Spitfire / MG Midget etc etc.

The roadster is a different thing though, it isn't a sensible city car. If I had the money and space and couldn't find a toyota 800, or a honda S500, S600, S800,  I might be tempted by the roadster.

I drove my ex girlfriends uncles shart car a few years ago. It was the second worst car I had ever driven! (Worst was the Rover 25).

You couldn't pay me to have one!

126 all the way. The only problem with modern engineering and european emissions and safety regulations is that no car company could ever make a car the size of an old mini or 126 nowadays. It would never pass any safety tests.

Anyway, imagine having a crash in this;

Peel P50. Only 50 ever made in the late 60's, and rarer than rocking horse poo. There is a rusty one for sale that needs restoration for £25,000. Good ones fetch about £40,000.

Tom

This aint far off the size etc. What are peoples general view on the Nano, I think its quite a good modern attempt at a real peoples car
