Parts that make you swear
« on: January 03, 2016, 01:07:00 PM »
During the rebuild of my Bis I have there is a lot of sub standard parts out there so thought I would start a thread on the parts I have had problems with

The worst problems have been with the front quarter light frames which took a lot of getting right including disassembly and re-riveting of the frames not good at £45.00 each

The door window trims with the window felt on them ended up in the bin after numerous attempts to fit, these were basically too big between the corner radius's and i found them impossible to rework

One of my favourites was the headlamp retaining clips which as soon as you lay eyes on them self explode, used four to get a usable one

I feel pretty certain you can add to this list

I haven't had any problems with the headlamp surrounds just the clips that secure the lamps to the adjusters

Hehe I know this situation, I don't like to install them too ! The plastic is to hard and if you want to install it properly and safety then you have to heat them a little by dryer or put them in a hot water. They breaking so often.

Oh a replacement fuel tank is a real joy. I had to bash the last one into place as it just wouldn`t fit :rant.
