You hit the nail on the head Paul however,my '95 has a retro style interior with vinyl seat's and basic trim it's even fitted with a steering box instead of a rack for that authentic old school feel

This time of year is great for retro driving - the mist all over the windows, condensation dripping off the roof, that whining of the starter motor as it drains the battery flat in 12 seconds, the 2 candle power headlights, the smell of WD40 in the morning, the floor pan dissolving in the slush.... My better half has a new panda - it just starts and goes and has a radio. You can't even here the engine - what's all that about?? :)

I drive my 500 (and until recently my 126) daily and I still find myself grinning from ear to ear (although admitedly at times in the face of near certain death). That's the best reason to have one.

What does the piece of metal look like? Post a pic if you can.

Good to meet up last weekend btw. I was being a bit vacant for most of the time else I would have realised who you were sooner, esp. as your brother mentioned you were there... Maniacs have reignited my quest or a 600 multipla. Hens teeth though.

hi Paul yes was really good to meet you too, we all look forward to other events and seeing your 500. Terrific car, looked and ran really nice, we were admiring it as it went round those country bends on rally. Shame we didnt get your car next to ours!!! if i had known it was you i would have come up and introduced myself

i will try and get a pic of that bit of metal, i dont think aircooled engines have it, just the BIS sump.
