Sounds like that's gonna be the more favourable option Dan, I've seen pictures of Bis's with the K&N filters on, would have thought you Gould get one based on providing the carb type...good luck with it Dan, let me know how you get on....👍
Ta daa! Here's the finished article. In the end I scrapped the idea of a mid mounted air filter (for now) and bought a Ramflo filter instead. It didn't have a cut base plate so I had a local classic shop do that part for me. Once I'd finished with the various carb internals I took it outside and bam, the photos are the result for today.
I really like how it looks, obviously the screw through the top isn't ideal but it works and it looks relatively OE compared to say, SU carbs on an MGB. Once I've got the time I will think about building a converter plate. The awkward part is going from the very unique shape of the Weber 30 to a circular shape much more commonly found on pipes and things. I'm sceptical of the positioning of the filter still, being right above the exhaust, but we shall have to see how it fairs.
